CALLE LIBRE DC | Street Art Festival

  • Cairo Wine & Liquor 1618 17th Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20009 United States (map)

In collaboration with Dupont Underground and Calle Libre Austria, the ACF DC invites you to the Calle Libre DC - Street Art Festival from April 25-29. What is “Calle Libre”? Founded in 2014, Calle Libre is a festival for urban aesthetics that brings together today’s contemporary forms of graffiti and other forms of street art onto curated walls throughout the city of Vienna, Austria. This year, they are bringing their festival to Washington, DC. In this international project, the Austrian artists Boicut and David Leitner will work with American artists Jay F. Coleman, Maria Miller and Edith Lopez-Estrada on creating a colorful mural at “Cairo Wine & Liquor”, in the heart of Dupont Circle. The goal is to promote intercultural cooperation between international street artists, and to establish a dialogue with the public. Other events of the festival include a live Art-in-Action and Artist Talk at the Austrian Embassy on April 27 and a Closing Event with the artists at Dupont Underground on April 29. In August, Jay Coleman will fly to Austria to join Austrian artists during the Calle Libre Vienna Festival.
